It is all listed on Da Bears website. It was the Decatur Staley's founded in 1920, renamed the Chicago Staley's in 1921 and the Chicao Bears in 1922. Staley Da Bear is the current Mascot.

Decatur Staleys in Decatur Illinois. Papa Bear took the team to Chicago. They played at Wrigley Field. He saw the baseball team players was much smaller than his football players. So Papa Bear thought if the baseball players are Cubs then my players must be Bears. So he changed the name. Being an Illini alumni he brought the colors of orange and blue.

They were the Decatur Staleys in 1920 when George Halas bought them and moved them to Chicago. As part of the sale, he was required to keep the mascot name for one year, so they were the Chicago Staleys in 1921 before becoming the Bears in 1922.
