it's a wood door, and I've seen doors painted in a different color inside to match the other doors around the house :o/
Thanks!

Norm and Turnhog have both provided good answers. The color of each side is generally chosen independently, assuming the door is closed most of the time.

I would just add that you should consider how the outside color will look in your room if you leave the door open at times -- for example, if you use a storm or screen door. Then the outside color will become part of the room. In most cases, this might be fine, but think about it before painting.

I don't recall ever painting the interior and exterior saides of the front door the same color on any of the homes that I have built in 30+ years of building. Typically, I match the exterior color with the exterior look and house and paint it a color that makes the front door stand out and draw attention to it. My realtor says that makes the house more attractive and inviting to prospective buyers. The inside side of the front door is typically painted to match the other interior doors, which is commonly white.

Paint the inside a different color.

Paint the outside a good color based on your houses color. The inside should compliment your entry area.

You can paint the inside of the door six different colors if you want to, it's your door. Matter of fact, you can do the same to the outside, too.

It makes sense to paint the outside of the door to compliment to the outside and the inside to compliment the inside. After all when you are outside you can't see what color is on the inside of the door and vise versa.

You may paint your door any colour, or colours you want, as long as you don't live in a neibourhood where there is a community beautification comittee.
