The reason I'm asking is because this happened to me this passed weekend. I'm 37 weeks and the baby is measuring 33 weeks. They wanted to induce me to prevent any problems due to her size. After 27 hours of labor and no progress beside contractions, the doctors stopped the pitosin, the contractions stopped and I went home an hour later. This is my 4th child and all my other deliveries have been easy so they are against giving me a c-section unless absolutly necessary.

I was a volunteer at a hospital in the maternity ward, and many doctors wanted to speed up natural labor so they could go home early. I quit because I couldn't stand to see that. Why mess with nature, unless the mom is suffering too much to handle?

Yes, sometimes it didn't work. Put more stress on the mother-to-be.

I was induced over night on pitocin (sp?) after complications at the end of my pregnancy with my first son. By noon the next day after upping the drip that morning, I still wasn't dilating fast enough and my son's heart rate started to drop. I ended up having an emergency c-section that day (also was my due date). I don't blame my Dr one bit. I'm very glad to have not been made to sit and suffer through hours of labor.

Yes. The doctor broke my water in the evening and at 6AM announced it was time to do a c-section since the baby hadn't come yet. I think in a lot of cases doctors do this for their own convenience. Why wait hours for a baby to be born when you can get it over with in 15 minutes, get paid more for performing a surgery, and not be late getting in to your office? But I did have a healthy beautiful baby, regardless of how she was delivered.

yes! I was induced and after 28 hours, I had to have a c-section.
We didn't get past 8 cm. And they broke my water. I was past my due date and he already weighed over 9 pounds.
