And obviously the English & grammer department is going downhill too.
Not all Americans are that clueless though, thanks.A vast majority yes, because they are taught nothing at any point in their lives about the government. The government classes in many high school's are a joke.

That's an assumption based on your opinion. I've learned to respect all opinions.

Not all of us are "duped". Many have voiced their disconcern for the president on many occassions. I didn't vote for him in the election. The people who did are the ones that are wondering the same thing. I don't we are getting "saved". We are always going to have issues and problems in this country but to save that all of us support the president and to support him is dumb?

I mean what makes a good president?

Here is what I think of our current "president". He's so illogical. Always have been, since the day he ever set foot in office. I never supported the war. It was based on lies. People believed it were feared from 9/11 and the so called "evidence". There is no question of my mind that Saddam was an evil evil man. But, to rush into a war when we were barely in another one that was legit? Without planning or thinking of the long term? That's stupid.

This new plan. I think it is the same plan just worded differently. Increased troops should have been done long ago and now that he is asking for more funding supposedly, it will look bad if congress denies the funding. He can argue that the money is being cut off for our troops.

To be honest, I didn't really watch his entire speech. He didn't mention Katrina at all. The crime rate in New Orleans is high and if we can send more troops to Iraq and ask for more funding...why can't our federal government take care of its own people who are need? Many people are either living in fear or displaced in New Orleans. Healthcare is expensive and despite the unemployment rate dropping...many people who were out of the jobs have to take lower salary positions to make ends meet.

He's had 7 years. 7. He's talked about change and how we are making progress, how that we should stick with Iraq...words mean nothing. He can make a thousand speeches, but how do you explain to a troop who gave his life for his country?

I am an American. Call me what you want but I am one. I voted. I didn't vote for Bush. I didn't throw my vote away. Our government doesn't neccessarily reflect the people of the USA. The actions of a few have degraded our reputation in this world. We are a laughingstock. Many like yourself there think that we are fools. Fools to have this president.

That's why in the last election, we voted for change. Change. Away from the crap from the last 7 years. And to be honest, other countries have similar issues. It's just that we are bigger and more noticable country.

i am not American, but i know something.

during previous elections President G. Bush (Junior, not Senior) wins by a majority of about around 50+%. that leaves about around 40+% of Americans who are against him. though a minority percentage, you must agree that it is a "large minority" percentage. hence, you CANNOT generalise Americans as supporting their President.

but i must say, that "large minority" must stand up and speak up for their beliefs. if they already are, it is just not loud enough. don't depend on the congress only. you guys have freedom of speech, and i must say, that is a powerful tool to make things right. i'm sure your voices will be heard :)

and i quote:

"All that is necessary for the triumph of evil is that good men do nothing." (Edmund Burke)
