Trick-or-treating is so very different that being lured into a child predator's grasp.

Parents supervise children's trick or treating, and usually keep to their own or really known neighbourhoods or even the mall. Most parents check to see if it has been tampered with post trick or treating. This is a community event and celebration.

Children are discouraged from accepting candy at other times of the year because it falls outside the norm. It could have been laced with drugs, like the candy necklaces laced with E a few years back, and is most likely being used as a molester's lure while the parent is not around.

If you really can't see the difference, maybe it would help to think of it that the child has transformed himself into something empowering (hence, the costume) and is braving the porch steps not to be intimidated, but rewarded, on this one very special magical night.

After all, kids need to learn to trust their own instincts at some point. They're not stupid--believe me, they know the difference between Halloween and everyday life.

What about parents who take kids to the mall to sit on this strangers lap at Christmas time. He is dressed in a funny suit.
To the kids he is a stranger and then they are to ask Santa Clause a stranger to bring them gifts. He will buy you stuff your selfish parents won't buy you.
He breaks into our house to leave gifts. So some guy breaks in and they go great this must be Santa Clause.
Instead of the chimney he is coming in a window.
They tell them about Easter bunny's and laying colored eggs and all this stuff and then get mad if they lie.
Or make up an imaginary friend.
No wonder kids grow up confused.
or dress up in a sheet and go to all the neighbors we don't know and beg for candy. I am suprised more kids are not kidnapped.
That lady says well parents are with kids if something happens.
How do kids know the difference???? This time you can do it next time you can't???

The majority of the time parents go trick or treating with their children. Also many towns cities let you take the candy to the hospital to let it get scanned. Also parents don't just let their kids go to any house. Houses that they know. I mean good parents do this. lol

umm well first they dont say"take candy from strangers" they say "go trick-or-treating" which does not imply that you are going to be in danger. second, usually you know the neighbors so it isnt a problem. if you live in that bad of a neighborhood, well then just dont go trick or treating there go with a friend in their neighborhood.

If you notice, a lot of parents aren't allowing their kids to trick or treat. I guess they allow trick or treating because most people are familiar with their neighborhood and ASSUME people who live there are decent like them.
