and watched a young kid walk into the changing room, he fiddles around with his gear and obviously has forgotten what order to put his gear on.

Then he looks up and says "Haven't played in 7 years" with a grin on his face.

When he gets on the ice, looks a little shaky at first, then seems to grasp skating again.

About 1 hour into the pick up game, he's going coast to coast, stick handling through everyone, and firing the puck top hand corner from just inside the blue line. There was even a guy being picked up by a Junior A team this following year, and this kid was skating circles around him.

What would be your thoughts? Talent wasted? Like the kid was good, real good, obviously junior A good. But he just quit. Makes you wonder.

Some people have the talent but just don't have the drive or desire to make all the sacrifices neccessary. Maybe he doesn't want to move away from home, maybe he likes playing once in a while but hates playing every day, maybe he hates riding on buses.

Maybe he got hurt and by the time he healed, his friends and teammates had moved ahead of him. Maybe he stayed home to work or help with a sick family member. Maybe his true passion is golf or experimental physics or piano.

There are a lot of reasons he might have decided to not play junior. It might be interesting to find out why he never went further, but don't assume he 'wasted' his talent. It would be a waste of his LIFE if he played when he didn't really love it.

if you really think he is that good i would do what the first guy said, try to convince him. I played in alot of pickup games but never seen talent like that. don't push him to much though, bec if he really is that good he prob knows it and thereis prob another reason why he didn't go for any big league stuff

Yeah I hate hearing stuff like that, some people have to learn to use their potential.
