If they do social work. Absolutely.

I've never heard of an actual degree called "social work". Never seen anyone with a bachelors in Social Work. Have met a few social workers.

Nurses, doctors, PhDs, clergy, & teachers have all done social work. Their experience and degrees in similar subject matter makes them pretty well suited to the job. Look at the pioneering work of Jane Addams and Hull House.
