My wife is a born again christian, and loves our children Very Much, but when she asks them to do something, she expects them to do it immediatley OR else. All hell breaks loose, as she often puts it - if she is obeyed immediately.
Being a christian has nothing to do with it either.
I understand everybody has there own temperment.
I myself, have the potential to be easily anger, impatient, to yell and scream often. Knowing this, I went into the bible, and a few other Eastern religious paths, ways of being, to discover answers, to try and improve myself. For peace of mind, for our household, and to try and set a good example.

My son uses humor to deal with his psychological trama(s) he has often experienced.
He reads humor, joke books, likes to watch comedy movies (rent for him to watch on DVD),
he is very humorous in his nature, he likes to
occasionally watch the comedy channel on T.V.
You understand what I am saying.

I do not point out to my wife, judging her. Is humorOK

Do you think yelling, screaming, constantly speaking degrading, &
pinching can cause children (5 & 8 yrs
of age) psychological damage ?

And really, is Humor a good,
wholesome self-healing remedy
for children ?

My son is humorous in a way which does not hurt another's feelings, and does no harm in any way to another.

He really cares about the feelings of
others, and forgives people easily.
He is the eight year old.

That is a very healthy way of dealing with stress. I do the same thing and have done the same thing since I was a kid. I'm 34 now and still do it. If I can make other people around me laugh then it makes me feel good and I can deal with what is bothering me more easily. Personally, I go on these "rants" like Dennis Leary and I can usually get a chuckle out of someone.

Wife may want to do the same thing as well-she is gonna stress out you and the kids and burn herself out being that uptight.

I think yelling, pinching, degrading can be very detrimental to a child. I think there are plenty of ways to get what you want with children without being degrading. You don't have to insult someone to point out that they are misbehaving or not listening. I think it could have long lasting effects on a child's self worth and self-esteem. Truthfully, it breaks my heart to think of a parent being so hateful toward their own child, that they call them names and insult them.

As for the humor thing, I think it's GREAT....humor is a great coping mechanism.

WOW!!!!!!!!! GREAT FOR YOU!!!!!!!!! What Eastern religions paths, like hinduism, Budahism? YES! My son is like that and I cannot get him to chill out. His Father saw him beat me up real bad in front of him when he was 3...he is 9 now and he still uses humor, alot. My ex and are friends now and that still does not get him to trust and stop acting like a clown. We went to a psychologist which did help alot, but Adam will always have his humor to cope in his own way.

Yes, humor is an escape and a relief.

People feel lighter and happier after they have smiled and laughed out loud.

Your son and his humor is a VERY GOOD outlet for him.

I think you are over thinking your sons love of humor. Many kids, boys especially are very humorous. I have three boys and they were always funnier then the girls. The maturity level of boys is less then girls as youth and humor is at times about maturity. Live, love and let him laugh.
Sincerely,

It sounds like your son may be more mature than you or the mother. Rigidity makes life unbearable for everyone. I am not surprised that you son found a constructive way to make his life more pleasant and tolerable. You and your wife have to find a way to lighten up and let kids be kids. It appears both of you need to get your nose out of the bible and into anger management.

Yes I do. Just to let you know children don't listen when people yell or scream. Its better to get to their level and talk to them-eye to eye.
