anyone else noticed how on american programmes when people are on the phone they just hang up without saying good bye?

yes, it drives me crazy (i'm in the US also)
we don't do that in real life

No, but I've noticed this question before.

It's neither American custom, not common on TV (at least what I watch) for people to hang up without "signing off" in some way -- whether bye, or see ya, or whatever.

Are you the same person who's asked this before?

If so, you have some sort of strange fixation and should seek help.

If not, my apologies.

I am from the USA,and always say good bye when completing a telephone call.PLEASE do not judge our behavior on the TV shows that are made here!*sigh*

We say goodbye before we hang up the phone. What TV programs have you been watching? Y'all have a good evenin' ya hear...LOL

I can't say that I've noticed that. My sweet Lady always tells me that she loves me before we say bye.

yes i have, americans are rude and ignorant but they do say bye well talk later

That must just be on tv, they say goodbye whenever ive spoken to them, very nice they are too, can't eat a whole one though.

no, but since you mentioned it. I dont say "bye" either I say "later" or "see ya"
