The rating systems are not completely un-biased in all cases, but this time the rating is pretty fair...just had to throw that up front, sorry.
GTA is a great game, and this is proven by the millions of copies sold so far, and the millions of players who pull it out nearly every day...so how many are outside stealing cars?
It's really just anther game...Real life is potentially far more violent than any game you can own...it's just a game.
The mature content is no more violent than 70% of the movies you can see every day on cable, and for the most part you'll be racing and crashing cars thru much of the game...not much different than hundreds of games that didn't get the same rating.
Mom needs to hear that you know the difference between reality and a game...it may seem obvious to you, but it's mom's job to worry, so put her at ease.
Impress her with your mature resolve, never beg or demand...and present a logical argument for the expansion of your creative curiosity.
A few unscrupulous defense attorneys have tried to use music, movies and video games as a cop-out for their criminal clients...but there isn't one documented case of a video game being directly and solely responsible for criminal acts.
Some criminals have used games or movies for some extra inspiration...but a simple video game won't turn you, a reasonable and intelligent average American teenager, into a monster.
It's just a game,Mom...and if I were a criminal or had criminal intentions, I would find a way to get it without your permission.
Asking for your consent is all the proof you need that it's OK.
The first time I play it, you can look in on it...it's pretty violent, sure...but it's just a game, and I can be trusted...Can't I?
...Give it a try...Mom's love the logical appeal approach.

what you need to do is give it up why would you wish to get a stupid game that you shot people in and steal from them there are a million other things to do in this world instead of making some maggots rich off of glorified violence do yourself a big favor don't even get started on the garbage like that just get something to do that you learn something from instead of thief and killing how totally dumb is that. only degenerate idiots with not brains play trash like that.

Prove that you're trustworthy, but they might not change their mind. You can't hate them for it, they're just trying to protect you from violence and sex that might alter your mind.
