I am really puzzled by this book. It is really a fantastic novel and I enjoyed it very much, yet I cannot seem to conclude whether or not if the events in the story actually occurred. The story seems to be fiction, but in Michael Crichton's acknowledgments it seems to be true. What do you think?

No it isn't true. But it is plausible--and that's what makes it so scary.

Of course not. But concerns like that have led people to wonder whether craft returning from the moon or from mars could bring something back with them. So much the more, we wish we could discover life on mars, no matter what.

its all based on a true story from Arizona
