Sorry I should have been more exact on what I needed. I need to know what to do with the 2x^2

5 answers

15x - 5 = 2x^2 + 6x + 4

Add 5 to both sides.
15x = 2x^2 + 6x + 9

Subtract 15x from both sides.
0 = 2x^2 - 9x + 9

This trinomial can be factored.
0 = (2x - 3)(x - 3)
2x - 3 = 0 or x - 3 = 0
2x = 3 or x = 3
x = 3/2 or x = 3

first you would get everything to one side and make the equation equal to zero. So move the 15x and the 5 to the right side and make sure to change their sign.

0 = 2^2 + 6x + 4 + 5 -15x

Then add like terms and get the following:

0 = 2^2 - 9x + 9

use the quadratic method for solving this

15x - 5 = 2x^2 + 6x + 4
0 = 2x^2 - 9x + 9 after moving everything to one side
0 = (2x - 3)(x - 3)

two problems are left to solve for x

0 = 2x - 3
3 = 2x
3/2 = x

and...

0 = x - 3
3 = x

x = 3 or 3/2

move the (15x-5) to the right side, so the equation equals 0. then use the quadratic formula.

Do your own homework, if you have questions on how to DO it, then ask.

I would advise combining like things. Such as: move -5 over to the other side. subtract 6x from both sides.
