You might have a CD for a different type of Mac or an Upgrade disk rather than an Install disk. You should post a question either at Apple Discussions or macosxhints.com forums.

Go to apple.com/support/discussions and ask how to install your os on a blank hard drive. They'll need to know about your machine, which os etc., but all the answers and help are there. good luck...costa (if it were a dvd it would have spit it back out at you)

Off the top of my head, I'd have to guess that your OS X disc is in fact a DVD, and your tower doesn't have a DVD drive.
