I disagree with you. Elvis is indeed a pioneer of Rock and Roll and influenced many great artists today. But It wasn't enough to earn a noble peace prize. MLK did start the civil rights movement and it effected every American who has lived during his time and is living. He also received the Nobel peace prize for that. Both of these men are great influences on the American public and on the world at that matter and they will forever be part of our history. Neither man will NEVER be forgotten.

MLK Jr. for sure. Elvis made great music, but did not do something as important as bring attention to and help change racist policies in a country that is founded upon the principles that all men are created equal and that there should be liberty and justice for all.

Martin Luther King Jr., of course! We wouldn't be were we are today, plus Elvis isn't much of a role model. Especially of what he did to himself, so MLK all the way!

U r entitled to ur opinion but as far as I'm concerned Elvis doesn't have a special National holiday commemorating him for all eternity, hmmmm oh but that can't possibly longer than history itself can it?
Get ur facts straight this country wasn't built on Rock n Roll it was built on Civil Rights for all people last time I heard. The Constitution, Abolitionists, Colonists, Pilgrims and all those folks, remember them?

hmmm...tough question. I think MLK. He led the way for equal rights for everyone. This probably led to many black musicians recognized throughout America including many that redefined American music, like Micheal Jackson, Prince, NWA, Public Enemy, etc. MLK civil rights also had the same effect on black sports and education. What he did for blacks and many colored immigrants are more important than what Elvis did for rock n roll.

hmmm.....I don't think Elvis really did anything for our country other than serve in the army and entertain us. So I would have to go with MLK

Elvis "created" rock n roll....no no honey, he stole rhythm and blues from the black man and sold his whitewashed crap to America...on the other hand, he did show us the joys of overeating and doping!!!!
