cells will try to reach equilibriulm with the hypertonic solution around it, so its water moves through osmosis out of the cell into the sodium chloride soulution. this causes the cell to dry and shrivel

It forces the cells to shrink as water leaves them. A solution which has a higher concentration of solutes than that in a cell is said to be hypertonic. This solution has more solute particles and, therefore, relatively less water than the cell contents.

ok, so its like osmosis...the cell want the same concentration of NaCl in and out of the cell, so it pushes out water and takes in NaCl solution. It will dehydrate it. Like going in a salty lake, you will feel dehydrated because water has gone out, and salt has tried to or has gotten in

The human body doesnt require alot of salt...NaCl, so the cell will try to equalise it.....you might have hear of the term equalibrium, its liek that. The cell will give off water to try to dillute it ...basically it dehydrates itslef. And thats why when you drink salt water you feel dehydrated
