The neo-cons initiated a strategy of hate and fear against any who opposed their hate based agenda. They did so under the cloak of being republican. They managed to fool many on both sides of the isle. They don't fool me.

Dems and real repubs, do not allow Satan's little helpers to devour this nation through the spirit of divide and conquer. If so, they win and everyone, repub and dem alike, loses.

Dems and repubs have always strongly disagreed for decades. Neo-cons took disagreement to the level of hatred. There used to be debates between the parties. After someone won, the arguement was over. Now, thanks to the neo-cons, the hatred they nourish never ends...

Thanks, Chi - much better!!

I'm not a "real Republican" - I'm a conservative Libertarian - but I *do* get offended because way too many people don't know the definition of "neoconservative" and use it to describe ALL conservatives.

They don't fool me either. Bush ran on Compassionate Conservatism, and got elected. After realizing the problems he was facing when it came to reelection they had to switch strategies. So Rove turned him into a renegade cowboy. That worked for people who thought they could trust him to keep them safe.

Turns out both strategies failed. Now Americans confuse neo-cons with true Republicans. I feel sorry for the fiscally responsible, compassionate, diplomatic Republicans that got swept up in the mess. You guys should ban together and let your voices be heard. The neo-cons are drowning you out!

Look I agree with what you are saying. But the most people thing is not true. The liberal hates the conservative, not just the "New Right". Most of these people here don't understand the difference between what you term neo-con and a conservative. They are simply taught to spew venom toward anyone who believes in self-determination, strong national defense, and liberty. They believe there is no difference between the neo-con and the true conservative. To them we are all heartless, facist Nazi rednecks. And somehow supporting our President makes us him. I supported Clinton as well and will support our next President, whoever he or she is.

Nicely said. Most people who oppose the republican agenda are opposing making the rich, richer and the country weaker as with this conflict in Iraq.

The cultural left has routinely affirmed the most vicious prejudices about American foreign policy held by radical factions in the Muslim world - and then emboldened those factions to attack us with the firm conviction that "America deserves it"
