Do you ever wonder why celebrities are celebrities? I mean, what makes them so special? You could easily find someone who can act better than someone who played a main role in a movie. What makes these people so special that they can be payed millions of dollars? Why can't you, or someone you know? Also, why can't some people sing? Why can't some people act? Why do some people get picked to play on a tv show, and others don't? Do you ever think about these things? What's your opinion on all this?

(Just in case, I'm not asking this because I'm mad about something, I was just wondering if anyone else is thinking the same thing as me)

Your question is a real valid one. Here are my thoughts on this subject matter. Majority of us, simple folks gravitate to the lifestyles of the celebrities; because we are in awe. We love to watch their movies . We love to watch them prance down the red carpets with all the latest fashions. And we love to read about them in the tabloids. It's all being in their imaginary and fantasy world if only for those few hours. And we take such delight in finding out that they ; as mere human beings have the same problems.

Because they are in the public eye and their every move is being scrutinize' we enjoy reading about their latest scandals or mishaps. That thy are not impervious or invincible to the same everyday problems.that we all encounter.

We love to watch every drama and turn. Little do they realize that without this public adulation; these celebrities would not be so popular if it wasn't because of our partonage. Some celebrities have little or no talents at all. We gravitate to their popularity. Others are just so famous because they are filthy rich.

It's all in the part of the entertainment and a total make-believe world. As it takes a variety to make this world. Some celebrities got chosen not for their talents but because of the opportunities. they were there at the RIGHT TIME and the RIGHT PLACE. Sometimes, it's not what you know but whom you know or whom you associate with.

Like Britney Spears. Her talent for dancing and singing is well known. Lindsay Lohan can really act. Too bad that these two; decide not to showcase their talents but their popularity as sluts. Paris Hilton has no talents. She can not act nor sing. Although her singing debut was pretty decent. The only thing going for her is the fact that she's rich.

Some celebrities don't really have an enjoyable life. They live in glass houses. Any mishaps that they have, we almost always read or hear about it. They have no moment's peace. The day they become famous, they can not lead normal lives. Paparrazzis are constantly staking their houses. Even going to the supermarkets become an arduous task.

Most actors can command big bucks for their films. Especially, if their popularity means gross proceeds at the boxoffice. Sometimes, this very popularity go to their heads. They quit the TV series which made their names into household names. Little do they realize the magnitude of their presence being in our living rooms every week. And when, they go into movies, hoping to get a hit. And then it bombs!. They have to wait around for another chance at that big time. They don't realize that having a steady income even in the small screen helps. They are not grateful to the hand that feeds them.

Some if not most celebrities have to lead high maintenance lifestyles to commensurate with their popularity. And that can get real expensive. What with manager and publicist and stylists and assistants in their payroll. Usually, life imitates art. They are expected to leave big tips over and above the cost of their meals. They are expected to live; PLAYING ROLES instead of actual living. They can not become ordinary people like you and me. This I find is the real drawback or the price they pay for their popularity. They become phantom of the opera of real life.

They strive for total power.. This at times go to their heads Total power corrupts totally. Witness the wasted lives of Elvis Presley or John Belushi with his durg addiction. They also become targets for assasinations and stalkings. Look at John Lenon's untimely death.

Is it better to be popular but dead.? Or to be poor ;free and alive?.

I work in the film industry and I have thought about this a great deal. There are many talented people that are not working and there are lots of untalented people who are. I concluded that 'talent' is not the primary requirement. What is? The best I can figure out is drive. The NEED to do it. Film industry is in large part a game of right place at the right time. The people that are hard at it 24/7 have right time covered. hat takes a kind of drive that is impressive and eventually pays off. There are exceptions of course but you look at somebody that looks like a mediocre or even bad actor and ask yourself, 'how did he get this gig?' and then you hear the story of workshops and networking and schmoozing and sending resumes and head shots by the thousands and hounding the agents and going to every open casting and on and on. Some of them work so hard at getting the gig that you are surprised they did not get something sooner good or bad.

I think celebrity is sometimes a matter of being in the right place at the right time or maybe having a certain look or style.
I think that some people considered celebrities(not all) are some of the tackiest people in the world and I wouldn't want to meet them or be friends with them.

I think about the same thing a lot. Also I am not excited about celebrities lives or about seeing them in person, they are just people, not any different than anybody else I see around town. Who cares? I dont care who they date, where they go, what they wear...

The reason for all of this is Karma- (reaction to past actions) Every one has propensities due to their past life Karma. Depending what one did in their previous life and what their material desires and attachments where at the time of death, they are endowed with certain qualities, and situations that are destined. One can change their destiny to some extent by surrendering to God. The easiest way to do this is to chant the Maha Mantra (the great mantra for deliverance from all suffering and illusion) go to harekrishnatemlpe.c for details and read Bhagavad Gita As it is By Bhaktivedanta Prabhupada- which tells how to transcend all karma and create your next life. Our actions now are creating our next existence.

I'm not really star struck. They are just people with lots of money. Nothing special. Seems like a hard life. People are always in your business and trying to find some kind of dirt on you.

How could you seriously wonder this? Celebrities are celebrities because they are all very very attractive. At least 90% of celebs are beautiful, and the ones that aren't are proably the best at what they do,i.e. Anthony Hopkins, Kathy Bates, any comedian with their own show...
