Do you have a 4 lug receptacle or a 3 lug receptacle?

If you have a 4 lug wall receptacle and are trying to wire an older 3 lug dryer to fit it, here is your solution. On the new pig tale there are 4 wires red, black, white and green. Red, black and white go to the respective terminals in the dryer. The green is attached to the chassis of the dryer... You can attach it to the screw that holds the cover on over the other wires.

If you have a 3 lug wall receptacle, you need to get a 3 wire pig tale(cheaper route) or you can hire an electrician to convert the old receptacle to a newer 4 lug type.

I hope this helps...Good luck.

When you bought it, the salesman should have told you about it. What you need to do is buy the adapter. I don't remember exactly how much it was, but it should be around $30. It could be bought at any major appliance stores.
