Assure him that you can take care of them. Do chores around the house before he asks to show that you are responsible. Try to make a deal with him, example, "If I get all A's on my report card then can I get a ferret?" Offer to help pay for food and other supplies. If he's smiling when he says no, he may really be considering it. Don't bug him too much or he will not let you get one. You shuold probably wait until you get a house if your landlord has rules against pets. You also need to check local laws to make sure you can have one. Good luck! Let us know if he caves!

Get a job and raise the all the money needed to buy the ferret and a ferret cage and all the little ferret extras, like litter, a water bottle, a hammock, a ferret condo, wood shavings, ferret treats and toys etc. About $250 - $300 should do. (You'll need more $$ later too)
That alone shows that you're willing to work for the things that you want and are responsible enough and committed enough to reach your goals. Use that responsibility and committment to convince dad that you can handle a pet ferret.
You'll also need to dedicate a portion of your time to your pet (if you get one) even when your friends want you spen time with them. Ferrets, like all pets, need attention and maintenance including some pretty messy stuff. This is all a part of the responsibility.
My kid has wanted a ferret for a very long time and eventually got one, but ended up ingoring it in it's cage in her room for days and days. I'm the one who ended up training the nippy little bugger to behave so he could finally be handled.
Personally ... I liked Ruby the Rat better.
PS - Have you noticed that there's a spell checker with this thing? You might want to try it sometime. Either that or learn to spell. That's part of being a responsible student!

Well first off, and I know many people will answer this way, you need to show your father you're responsible(and perhaps work on your spelling, no offense). You will need to show your father that ferrets are indeed NOT rats, but are actually carnivores. This may make him warm up a little more to them. I had two ferrets while living under my parents' roof, and they constantly complained of the smell. When living with your parents, you also have to take into account how they feel about the animals in their home. Not to mention bad potty habits. My ferrets have ruined carpet by going in places I could not possibly put a litterbox, and let me tell you, this stuff is darn near impossible to remove! Landlords don't particularly like this, and may refuse to allow ferrets in your home. Yes, ferrets are cute, but you need alot of time with them, and you have to keep up with their poopy habbits, and they can get into pretty much everything you DON'T want them to get into. If you're gone at school all day, then out with your friends afterwards, or doing homework, are you going to have time to let the ferrets out for about four hours a day at least? It will be better once your parents own their own home, so I would ask them, but what they say stand, and one can only try so much. Good luck, though. I'm sure what I've said has put these crazy furballs into a bad light, which they are by no means bad pets. I have two and they are my sweet babies and I wouldn't trade them for the world!

my husband absolutely refused to let me get a ferret...... until a friend gave me one, cage & all...... he fell in love with her the first day (i caught him letting her give him kisses on the cheek)....... if you're old enough (i'm assuming you are) tell your dad that you feel you are responsibel enough to handle this one pet (but be aware, they crap ALOT, i had no idea, but i have to clean the litter box out daily for just my one little female, & they do smell, so cleaning is important, or your dad is likely to complain about the smell....... if he's kinda grinning & saying these things with humor, keep working at him, this most likely means he will probably give in if you convince him that you will be 100% caretaker & he will not wind up taking care of it all the time....... but ferrets & their cages are quite expensive, ferrets are at least $100 & a good sized cage can run you $150-200 or more...... then the accessories........ anyway, price everything before you get the ferret (if your dad says yes that is) you may even want to say that if he gives you the chance to prove you are responsible enough, & lets you get a ferret, that if you prove not up to the task of caring for it (not saying you would be, this just makes a pretty good argument for you) that all he has to do is say look, you're not taking care of it, you need to get rid of it (give to someone else, for example, whatever...) but ferrets can be lots of fun, & like i said, just tell your dad you'd like the chance, & if he gives in, he'll probably wind up loving it so much, he'll want one of his own! :) (you hope, anyway)..............good luck, oh, & if you get one, you should own Ferrets for Dummies, very good book on ferrets, has just about everything you need to know! very helpful for first time owners (such as myself)

Try writing a persuasive essay saying how you will be responsible enough to have a ferret. You have to convince him by saving up your money to help pay for his needs and doing your chores.

Use the sad puppy dog eye look!!!
Or try to make them a bargain...
...maybe say that you'll get straight A's or something
You can also use the "learning responsibility" trick, that's how I got my dog

all you have to tell him is that they make great pets and that they are descended or can be descended and if you have mouse problem or a snake problem they can get rid of that problem they are really useful you wont have a rodent problem when they are around. guaranteed. all u have to feed it is cat food. they are low maintenance
