Unfortunately you are out of luck. If it was possible to change the admin password then the security wouldn't be any good right? The only work around for this that I have found is to reinstall the OS, but don't touch any of the directories that aren't under "C:\WINNT" After you have installed your new OS you will now have a new admin account. You still won't be able to access the files, but if you go into My Computer, then right click on the directories that contain the files you want access to, then go to properties, then go to security, you should see the accounts that have ownership and are allowed access to the files in that directory. Add your admin account and give it full access, then blow away any other accounts that are listed there. This should work, but I haven't done this since I forgot the password for one of my Windows NT machines.

Good luck,
Shavez

Well, i followed the link that the one answer gave and it wasnt a solution. The other said your only choice was to reinstall. If you have access to it, you can use Winternals ERDCommander. This program will give you access to an administrative account and allow you to reset passwords to any account on the computer.

Hopefully, you are the autorized Admin for this computer. Beware if your not, when you reset the password, of course somone is going to know. But if you are the admin, then follow the link and it will explain how to reset it in safe mode through the command prompt. This is the only way if you dont have access to admin in reg windows.
