The durastic different regions of China have effected the history of China. It is difficult for such a large country to be united. As well, anything outside of the main cities are basically slums and underdeveloped, because it is difficult to create roads, electricity, water, etc through everything from mountains to deserts.

Also, the rivers in china effect the rice crops. They flood to provide water for the rice to grow. It can also cause devestating tsunamis and flooding if it is not carefully controlled by dams.
