He dropped a hint by saying that he wants to double the strategic oil reserves in case of severe restrictions on supplies by suppliers.

I believe Bush is preparing the country for war with Iran. He wants to add 21,000 troops to Iraq. He's sent another carrier group to the Persian Gulf in addition to the one already there. Israel will probably take the lead and Bush will call to re-institute the draft. He'll then send at least 100, 000 men into the middle east for security purposes. Israel already said they will nuke any nuclear facility in Iran if Iran refuses to halt production of plutonium.

It did sound like it.
To mild irritant: Think strategic. I hope it doesn't happen.

Problem is Iran don't want a war with us. They're just tired of us trying to mettle in their affairs.

I believe they would make a good oil supplier to the United States, and in return we can trade manufactured goods they need. we are definitely going about it the wrong waywith them. but we must first learn not to mettle. Also think industrial war machine.

Might also be in Iran's favor to allow the nuclear inspections. I personally think it would. Lot of things being investigated here in the US now but it takes time. Iran's patience in this manner would be appreciated.

Early on during his first Presidency he said the exact opposite( go figure). The nonsense about reducing fuel usage by 20% was another hint. I think its exactly what he's doing. Is Bush going to tap his imaginary civilian volunteer corps for this? Did you see the smirk on Cheney's face when Bush mentioned alternative energy? Priceless.

Yes, I do.
I think that the U.S. has had it's fill of the Islamic terrorist movement. It was hoped that Iraq would become a democracy and stabilize the region.
Unfortunately, the Sunni and the Shia would rather cut each others throats.
Now there appears to be no other way of controlling this movement other than 'cutting the heads off the snake' which is Syria and Iran.
That time is quickly approaching.
When it arrives, both of those countries will be will be severely affected.

I don't think so. I think he has realized that his previous way of running the country was a bad one. I also think that it was his advisors that were making the bonehead speeches and whatnot. I don't believe we would be stupid enough to elect someone that wouls say "Stay the course" after simple logic says that it isn't working. I think he is basically trying to position us to not depend on anyone but ourselves (which would have been great if we would have spent the $100 Billion we spent on Iraq) on doing this.

There are several other hints as well as to what the opposition may be.

China launching a missle where they destroyed one of their satellites in space. We don't have that technology yet. Giving Washington pause for thought.

Russia possibly sending defense missle systems to Iran.

All of this sounds like somebody is training to "protect trade".

No it wasn't a prelude to anything. If the Bush administration wanted to go to war with Iran they would have done it a while ago.

Could be. I mean he has sent something like 5 war ships into the gulf, all pointing their arms at Iraq. From what I've heard, we already have some soldiers and spies in Iraq that went across the border from Iraq. Sounds like another build up for war to me.
