Type in the names of your students -- first name in one box and last name in the next box. After that, decide how many assignments you are going to give. Name each one. Write the names of the assignments one row above the names. You have a (very basic) gradebook. To learn more than that you would need to take a course in Excel. Or, if you like, I can explain it to you one e-mail at a time.

The Microsoft Online Office has designed grade books (the link is below). Go to the "templates" tab and do a search for "grade book" and you'll find plenty to choose from. You can down load them and re-format them to suit your needs.
