I'm in high school and I have a D in algebra II & chem. [eek] Do i have to retake both courses next year or during the summer? What if i get an A in both classes next semester?

and how do i explain those grades to my parents? i usually get good grades. [i really do haha]

If you retake the classes next semester, that would be best. But I would take them again, and not settle for the D's. If you retake them and do better, it shows you are motivated and will reflect much better on you.

When you tell your parents, tell them why you think you did so poorly (don't blame the teachers or the class), and what you can do to fix the problem. It would have been better if you had told them you were struggling. You could have met with the teacher to see what you could have done so the D's wouldn't happen. Don't wait next time. Get on top of situations before they are bad. You knew what was happening - better than anyone else.

ahh i have the same problem. im doing really bad in algebra 2 and really bad in chem

if you fail for the year then you have to go to summer school
or i guess retake them next year.

but you can bring them up your next quarter or semester

D's are a passing grade as far as I understood. Your highschool might have GPA requirements though, best to ask a counselor there.

D is not good!!! tell ur parents that algebra and chem are tough subjects. ask your parents if they are good at those subjects. you got those genes from your parents :P blame your parents for bad DNA hahaha
