A little bit:
Personally I like to listen to music from musicians who write their own songs. The way American Idol does it is too gimmicky, "poppy" and all about $$$.
I don't mind watching hopeful contestants sing, sometimes but they'll never, ever pick anyone whose cd I'd buy.
The most shameful part is the way they treat the poor, socially awkward, mentally ill who try out. I don't know how Simon can look himself in the mirror and feel good about the money he's made from saying the worst thing he could think of to a person who's probably already had a hard time socially.

no, its there to find the best in america and they do a darn good job doing it...applicants know full well and good what they are geting into when they go to the audtion...its not about political correctness, its about talent and trust me, as a former media person, brutal truth is EXACTLY, what the applicants need.
