There have been SOME good gay movies (Priscilla Queen of the Desert, though it is trans and drag queens, and not just "normal" gay people; there's also Beautiful Thing, though parts of it are VERY British and it can be a bit hard to translate; and there are some others but I can't think of them right now), but you're right. The vast majority are either using us as the butt of jokes, or else have to end with the characters dying and being miserable. Sometimes both (:;cough:: BROKEBACK).
The Celluloid Closet is an awesome documentary about the archetypes of gay characters throughout film history.

Oy. You're not wrong at all. If you can think of any movies in particular that you like let me know. I've given up on movies with same-sex couples. I think it stems from my trauma from watching "Kissing Jessica Stein." :)
I am very afraid of this movie that is coming out. It has the chance to either highlight how stupid people's concerns about gay marriage are, or it can backfire and suddenly make all the conservatives even more worried about gay marriage.

There is a really good movie about two girls who fall in love called Imgaine Me And You. It wasn't a comedy, or a tragedy, it was just a good old fashioned love story. You should check it out, it definitely is about love and life without any stereotypical garbage in it. Other than that I agree, it's slim pickin's. Good luck!!!

I don't know about anyone else, but I'm quite afraid that both actors and the screenwriters to boot are going to resort to nothing but stereotypes and cliched jokes. Frankly, I don't find either of them funny or entertaining period.

ACTUALLY, YOUR WRONG. They're "playing gay" so they can get insurance and other benefits like married people have. This way they won't have to "actually marry women." Its a (stupid) joke comedy about two losers who marry each other for the benefits only. ::sigh:: They aren't actually Gay.

I agree with you! I think it's stupid to keep making comedies out of them. Although one movie, although sad, "It's my party". I cried!
