MORALITY

Morality refers to the concept of human ethics which pertains to matters of good and evil —also referred to as "right or wrong", used within three contexts: individual conscience; systems of principles and judgments — sometimes called moral values —shared within a cultural, religious, secular, Humanist, or philosophical community; and codes of behavior or conduct morality.

Personal morality defines and distinguishes among right and wrong intentions, motivations or actions, as these have been learned, engendered, or otherwise developed within each individual

Morality can also be seen as the collection of beliefs as to what constitutes a good life. Since throughout most of human history, religions have provided both visions and regulations for an ideal life, morality is often confused with religious precepts. In secular communities, lifestyle choices, which represent an individual's conception of the good life, are often discussed in terms of "morality". Individuals sometimes feel that making an appropriate lifestyle choice invokes a true morality, and that accepted codes of conduct within their chosen community are fundamentally moral, even when such codes deviate from more general social principles.

RIGHTEOUSNESS

Righteousness in this article refers to the important theological concept in Islam, Judaism and Christianity. In one sense, it is an attribute of God whereby He is said to be holy and righteous. In another sense it refers to the righteousness of man; either his inherent righteousness (or the lack thereof), or his potential right standing before God or as being "judged" or "reckoned" as righteous by God (as the patriarch Abraham was in Genesis).

Moral Righteousness

Well, The Bible says in Romans 3:10 As it is written, There is none righteous, no, not one:
and also...Matthew 23:28 Even so ye also outwardly appear righteous unto men, but within ye are full of hypocrisy and iniquity.

So to me righteousness is something you can appear to be at anytime to suit the situation.

Morality is something you can't escape from. It is inside of you (IF you have morals.)

Your morals won't let you do wrong and get by with it. You will feel guilty until you make right whatever you feel you have done wrong.

BUT that's just my opinion.

Morality is what you think is right, based on your own morals. Everyone has different morals, though most of them are pretty similar. (At least for people that actually have them.) Righteousness is what God and your religion thinks is right (and hopefully you too if you are in it!). Or perhaps just following the law (commandments, or political). This may just be my opinion, but I believe righteousness is more general, and morality is more personal.

I think we're going into too much analysis, although this answer doesn't pertain to the question, we can say what is moral and what is right?

We can say what is moral is what society believes, what is right is what i believe. What you feel is right, can differ from what is moral.

Morality can be thought of as something you are rated.

Righteousness is in your heart, and is believed to go beyond morality, but this may not be the case.

In my view morality may lead to righteousness. Righteousness takes morality a notch further by submitting oneself totally to one's own convictions about an ethical/moral question. At that point the righteous may risk their own & kin's well being to oppose or help the other escape injustice.

I believe morality is within the heart of the person. Your do what you believe in your heart to be right. Righteousness is what your society or your religion dictates is right. And I do not think the two always coincide. And between the two, I would take morality in a person's heart over the dictations of a religion or society any day. I think God speaks to each of us in our hearts more so than to a religious sect or politician.

Morals are decided by society. Righteousness by self.
Example--if I believe in God and if I force a non believer to believe in God , peers think I am moral but I myself think it is not righteousness.

Morality is doing the right thing. Righteousness is doing the right thing and telling everyone about it. If this happens enough pretty soon the "Righteous" begin thinking they also have the right to tell others how they should act as well. Beware the righteous they rarely are.

Morality is a synonym of righteousness and visa versa. They have basically the same meaning . Meaning the fair and just thing to do. Acting in a just and right manner. Good, pleasant , authentic, excellent or satisfying.
