I have a friend who assault the property manager in our building in Sept. He attempted to strangle him in anger. There are 5 witnesses. The property manager wants money for the damage and will not let go of the charges. My friend goes to trial on Feb 27. I cannot testify for either of these people because I would face severe questioning etc. I want to tell the presecutor that my friend has a bad temper and often denies things and is full of himself and what he can do etc to get him some treatment without jail time and to stop the property manager from collecting a large sum of money because I think the Property manager is a little money hungry himself. How do I go to the court house and tell someone without getting involved in the court trial. Who do I talk to and how unanonymous can I be???
My friend stand to lose alot of money in paying a few lawyers to gt him off and also if he is convicted.
Although I like my friend he does have a very bad temper and is extremely angry at times.

Nothing that you are proposing would help your friend. If I were your friend's lawyer I would advise you to keep out of it. You can call your friend's lawyer and ask if you think your intervention would help, and I can pretty well assure you that you will get the same answer. Leave it alone.

Your friend assulted someone. He will have to face the consequences. The victim may be money hungry, but it has no factor on the crime comitted.

No, you can not help your friend without being fully involved.

Think about it this way too... if he gets away with this, what would he (could) do next? Kill someone in anger?

You have to make a decision. Get fully involved or stay out. As hard as it may be for you, you can mess up a lot of things by playing around with issues like this.

Stay out of it.

RE "money hungry" property manager: what does money have to do with it? This is assault---a crime. This is a criminal, not a civil matter. The property manager doesn't get anything in this trial---but your friend can get jail time.

If the property manager sues for damages in a civil trial to collect for hospital bills, etc, THEN money would come into play.

This person has problems. You should distance yourself from him. You do not have to go to court unless they subpoena you. If so, you will not have a choice.
