I totally agree with you!
Whilst there have always been gays in our community.....the legal acceptance of homosexuality, has resulted in an explosion of people who believe themselves to have been 'born that way'.
A very public demonstration that this is not so is that of George Micheal.
During his WHAM! days he was a real ladies man, even releasing 'Careless Whisper'....the story of a teenage romance between himself and a young girl, whome he cheated on.
Later in life, he declared he was gay!....So is this true or is it a result of 'bad' relationships with women?....
I believe that many men who have had either such bad relationships, or who lacked confidence with the opposite sex have found the more acceptable face of homosexuality, a more accessible and easy route into adult sexuality!..Gay men are more open and direct in reference to sex, and many men who struggle with the complexities of the female psyche, (when they mostly have no experience of it up to this point', would understandably find the familiar sexual nature of males, to be more 'comfortable'.
I often hear the 'excuse' that all gays are born that way.....but I doubt very much, if they are also born with the 'camp' intonations in their voice, that a majority seem to adopt!

Wow, what a hard question to answer. If you believe that each person is born a little different. That gays are born not taught you can see why there may seem to be more now.
Let's say people are born on a scale of 1-10 sexually. The one's are the Homophobes. The 10's are the flaming gays. The 5's and 6's are the bisexuals. 10 years ago you hardly saw anyone openly admit they were bisexual.
The 9's and 10's were the openly gays. Although the 7's and 8's leaned more toward gay sex, they stayed single or married, as it was so much more acceptable. Now ten years later you see the 7's,8's,9's and 10's openly out. Because it is safer, and more acceptable.
Therefore it looks like there are more gays ,when it is mostly the same. Just less hiding and forcing themselves into living false lives.

Simply as society is evolving, bad attitudes such as homophobia, racism etc are being seen for what they are. Horrible, unjustified dislike and hatred for other people for no apparent reason, for people they know little or nothing about.
More and more people are feeling more comfortable in coming out instead of hiding away their sexuality. Many more gay people are being seen on television, in storylines in programmes etc, generally spoken of in the media. When I was growing up I could only name 2/3 gay people, and they were on the t.v. Now society has become more accepting and there is less ignorance about, its not that there are now more gays, merely they are being seen and noticed more. And unlike the 70's and 80's, not in a bad light.
Likened to racism in Amercia until about 40 years ago (maybe less - not sure not my field), the blacks were persceuted, secluded from mixing with white people etc, had no rights and were seen as inferior and dirty. Thankfully time has resolved much of that, and today the vast majority of people aren't ignorant bigots, and we try our best to get along. Its not an effort to do so, its automatic within people of today (or damm well should be) to get along with anybody, whoever or whatever they are or are not.
As for brain washing, what rubbish. Children should be taught about other all people, so that they might understand how others may feel, to have the ability to emphasise so that they may understand the world around them. To exclude any group of people, to ignore that they don't exist is terrible. By making gays a taboo subject, kids will only become ignorant themselves, and simply not understand matters. The cycle must be broken, so we don't create more generations of frankly either ignorant or just plain horrible people, who can't think for themselves and just go along with what their parents or peers think.
Its not o.k to be gay. Its not good, its not bad. It just is. Just as heterosexuals are who they are, black people are who they are, gay people are who they are.
And as for gays kissing, touching each other etc, I believe the same rules apply as to straight people. The couple must be respectful to others around them, not eating each other alive or getting off like a pair of sex crazy teenagers. This behaviour is meant for private moments alone.
If straight people can hold hands, lightly kiss each on the cheek or lips, hug each other etc then why not gay people? Straight people do not realise the simple liberties they are free to express in public, without any backlash at all. If everybody could emphasise a little more, then the world should be a better place for all. End of.

in my opinion, I even haven't any issues, for i'd under no circumstances difficulty myself to this style of "re-programming." All you should do is examine an exceedingly severe article in on the prompt's paper to work out the hazards this style of "medical care" motives. 3 "leaders" of the Ex-gay flow have come out to inform their tale, the discomfort, suffering, suicides, and so on. that this "flow" has brought about...we purely listen about how "mind-blowing" the Ex-gay flow is. yet, at the same time as the actuality hits the streets, it would look that NO fulfillment memories are real. Repression does no longer equate to regulate. It equates purely to a replace of habit, no longer psychological replace. ameliorations that would make an ex-gay actually chuffed do no longer take position. i'm worried that the non secular appropriate retains promoting an exceedingly detrimental technique with out regard to the properly results of the guy. As generic, i stumble on the non secular appropriate to be an abomination in my eyes...any crew that promotes out and out mendacity to achieve their aims ??? is evil....era

There have always been homosexuals in this country, in this world, but unfortunatly it was always looked down on by certain people ie the church and other ignoramuses, and the majority of homosexuals found it very difficult to "come out" and were often rejected not only by society but by their friends and family. Can you imagine how hard that would be?
Now, fortunatly, times and people have changed., well most have, and the more intellegent people in this world realise that what ever sexuality we are, what ever colour we are, what country we come from, we're all the same and so alot more people find it easier to be themselves.. However else are we supposed to evolve in this world if people don't?
I think you're wrong for saying that young kids are being brainwashed, they are just cleary being told it's ok to be who you are. And if you're gay then it's very much ok to be so, you are not going to be sent to hell and all that other bull S.H.I.T that religion teaches you.
You need to open your eyes to the real world, there're alot more problems in this world and being GAY is definatly not one of them.

There just appear to be more people who are gay today because, though our society is hardly accepting and loving, they are more than they used to be.
It's like how some people reckon that there a more people with depression nowadays than there used to be. It's not that there ARE more people with depression, it's just that there isn't the stigma about it now that there used to be, so people feel more comfortable about talking about it.
P.S. It IS OK to be gay. And if you stop gay people kissing and stuff, we'll stop straight people kissing.
P.P.S. For all politically correct persons out there (urgh)...
DISCLAIMER: The reference to depression was simply used as an example to prove my point. In no way was I suggesting any connection between homosexuality and depression or vice verse.
That should keep you happy!! :P

I seriously am pleading with everyone that has a keyboard...THINK BEFORE YOU TYPE.
Okay, lets take a look at the history of the gay community, ever since the rise of well known religions (aka Judaism, Greek and Egyptian pagan religions, Christianity) there has been a suppression of the Gay and Lesbian community. Recently the global community has come very far in accepting these "alternative life styles." Many have finally come to see the way we live life as just that, another way of living life.
Recently many more people have been able to live their lives openly and without being scared for their lives of who they were. So to answer you question NO. However more people are being open about it and you hear about it much more than you would have, say 10 years ago.
Telling kids that homosexuality is wrong, is detrimental to the global community. According to your additional details, you apparently have a problem with a public display of affection between homosexual couple? Well than you are obviously against public display of affection between heterosexual couples as well. Because if you aren't you're a hypocrite and could not care less about the mental state of children.
If you shield a child from the world, when they finally get there, they tend to meet it with shock, and mental/emotional confusion can result. Are you even slightly aware of the number of suicides per year of teens who can not accept who they truly are because society will not accept them, and nor will their parents?
We know that sexual orientation is genetic, it is determined in your genes. If you in effect tell a child that is gay, that it is wrong, what do you expect them to think when they finally come of an age to understand it?
I experienced that, and let me tell you, it was hard. But I dealt with it, and I hoped that every day things could be different. But I realize now, that with the prejudices that we have in society the only way to change this, is to make people aware that homosexuals are people to and nothing less. The way we live our lives is nothing to be ashamed of. If you wish to put restrictions upon the way we live, than you should really think about how you live your life. You can not act as if the way you live your life is right, and the way I live mine is wrong. Have I hurt you? Have I done anything to hurt your quality of life?
Please allow me a counter question, what is this obscene distaste for the gay community you seem to harbor, what is so terrible about our way of life? We aren't asking you to do anything, we aren't taking anything from you, we aren't turning your children into gays, we aren't making you anything less than you were. Why do you feel it so necessary to try to destroy the freedoms we have finally come to enjoy, if you base it off of religious reasons, than you are clearly a heretic (read your bible) and if it is for some "you are corrupting our youth" reason, you are sadly mistaken but if it is for something else please, please elaborate.

One can only hope there are more gay men and women being open and honest. Shows of affection are a good thing. There is enough hatred in the world without adding more, particularly self-hatred. Like Tom Robinson sang in the 70's "Sing if you're glad to be gay. Sing if you're happy this way."

Not really. The percentages are still around 10% of the population, even if the size of the entire world population is exponentially climbing. People ARE coming out of the closet more than before. Society is more tolerant, and people are more comfortable, even if we do still have a long way to go. I wouldn't say that it is brainwashing to encourage people to be open about who they are and to think its okay to be themselves. It is very much okay. So, there are not more gay people, just fewer closeted ones.

There are NOT more Gay people.
Being Gay (in a lot of societies) is no longer considered to be a crime against Humanity.
Therefore Gay couples can openly declare themselves without fear of 'GayBashers'. these are the dreaded Skinheads from the Eighties. They still exist but in reduced numbers thabk Heavens.
From what I understand, being Gay is something you are born into. It isn't a choice, although many are Bisexual as well.
Tolerance is something that society needs to work on.
We still need tolerance towards various religions and races but the Gay thing is slowly working out (of the closet! :~} )
