What's up with giving the last syllable a long "e."? Why do people do that? It's not like "thesis" or "crisis" or words like that where you aren't actually adding a syllable, but just changing a letter. If you're gonna say "processes" that way you might as well say "dresses" that way. And who's gonna say dressees?

pros-es-iz, or proh-sess-eez are both correct pronunciations.

The base word is "cess" from the old english to tax, or to assess. Thus it became a process (proh cess) to do something.

Some americans have been lax with our pronunciations, and started saying pros-ess (praw-cess) with a short o sound as though the word was process instead of pro added to cess. Thus in today's society, both pronunciations are correct.

Which do I say most often? Praw-cess-ess.

I think the bigger question is whether pro is pronouced proah or praw. Context would give the answer. For what it's worth, I don't say pro-cess-ees, myself.

prah-sess-is...praw-sess-es...
why would anyone prounounce it any other way?
it's also kind weird when (especially older people) prounounce day as "dee" (mondee, tuesdee, wednesdee, thursdee, fridee and so on)
maybe they're saying a different word than processes...
that's the only way this would make sense to me.

the base of that word is PROCESS. instead of just adding a S to make it plural you add ES, because it already ends with a S
