At pet stores, I see rabbits going from about 25 dollars to about 50. But I'd say the average price to buy one is 20-30 dollars. To own one is a different story. You'll need a big cage, food dish, water bottle, and some rabbit toys. After you get all the essentials bought, it'll probably cost you about 25-30 dollars a month to own. Rabbits are a little more expensive than other pets.
They poop 200-300 times a day so they need to be cleaned twice a week atleast. You can get big bags of pet litter at walmart (and probably pet stores too )for about 5 dollars. This will cut back on the price of owning one (its cheaper to buy the big ones than to keep buying a bunch of small bags of litter)
Also, If you dont get your rabbit fixed, it'll develop a nasty attitude when it turns into an adult. I know this because I have 2 unfixed female rabbits who both think they're little divas. No one but me can put their hands in my rabbits cage without getting attacked. So I'm not sure how much it costs to have them spayed or nuetered but you should add that onto the price of owning one. Good luck!

Look on petfinder.com A lot of shelters have bunnies and they're inexpensive. Plus they've already been fixed in a lot of cases.
Around here, (Washington) feed stores sell 'em for $10-15. Our pet stores don't sell them (they just sell small rodents... for larger animals they have shelters come in and do adoption days). I'd advise against a pet store bunny anyway (or a feed store bunny) because they're usually not well socialized. The ones I saw at the feed store were very scared. I went back a week later and they were still scared AND filthy. Very poorly cared for. A shelter is your best bet.

You can adopt a bunny through one of the rabbit rescue groups or SPCA and they often charge a nomimal fee to pay for the spay or neuter (around the NYC area the fee is about $75). That is actually pretty reasonalbe because it would cost you more to have the vet spay/neuter the rabbit and s/n is very important for behavior and health.
The cost of the rabbit though is just the beginning. You have to have a cage/pen (those run around $100), litter boxes, food and water bowls, food, hay, toys. We probably spend about $50/month of greens and hay - rabbit pellets are pretty inexpensive. and you have to figure in vet costs. Rabbits need an annual check up and you want to be sure you only take your rabbit to a rabbit savvy vet and if your rabbit gets sick, you'll need to see a vet.
Sorry I can't give you one dollar figure. We love our bunnies and consider them priceless! If you are thinking of getting a bunny, please consider adopting and check out the links I'm sending.

I always adopted mine (for free) from the House Rabbit Society--they have branches all over the US so you might want to do a search for one near you. They rescue bunnies and then find them good caring homes, help bunny caregivers with problems or advice, have a newsletter with a whole lot of helpful information (like what plants are poisonous to rabbits, how to make rabbit habitats, etc.)

They were pretty cheap on the East coast, around $40 or so... but then I moved to the Midwest, and a bunny cost me $140... it is NOT a special breed. I got it from a pet store. A lot of times you can get them for free in the classifieds.

You can get one at a feed store (like TSC) for about $10-15. A breeder may charge up to $75, petstores charge about $30. Get one from a RABBIT rescue. They may cost about $60, but they have usually been fixed, which makes them easier to live with, especially if you want it to have a bunny friend.
