To Chi Guy that suggested I look at who Mississippi votes for........

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mississippi_Legislature

The truth hurts. Republicans have never won a majority in either the State Senate or State House, since reconstruction. Never. Louisiana is in the same boat and Georgia voted for its first Republican state government in its history.

The contempt that the left has for good people of this nation (especially southerners and mid-westerners) This is difficult to understand.

Here is the proof that Democrats tend to be less affluent, lower incomes and less education. This is the trend from 2000-2004. According to Pew Research.

Because they are easily swayed with all the promises of making their uneducated lives better by saying they will take away from the rich people and give to them.
Democrats despise people doing well in their lives. They despise this because when people do well, they have little use of Govt, when that happens, Democrats lose their control/power over people.
The best way to anger a Democrat/Liberal? Study hard in school, work hard, make money, own your own business, and fight the Democrats that want to take away what you've worked for to give it to someone else.

Because traditionally, the Democrat party was the party of the "working man" or the working classes. I don't know how true this still is, but that was the case in the past.

It seems to me that political parties are more drawn along moral issues these days. Maybe that's just my perception, but it seems Rep's tend to be pro-life, pro death penalty, anti-social welfare programs, pro-corporate welfare, while Democrats seem to be the opposite. Obviously, this is overly simplified, but I think you can get what I am talking about.

I find it odd that so many on here claim Dem's are without education, yet jump to comment on the "liberal elite" in the northeast-as in the wealthy who support the Democrat agenda. It seems you've got a superiority complex over the poor, and yet a condescending attitude towards those Dem's who are well educated, wealthy and have professional positions. Perhaps you do not appreciate their platform, but it is possible that a person's education doesn't really predict their political leanings. After all, I am a liberal Democrat with a Master's degree, as is my BF, a successful business owner, and his mother, a bank president.

The people with the most education by far and away are democrats. Kind of shuts your argument down cold.

In fact it's the poor white trash that tend to be republicans these days.

Democrats tend to support social service programs such as welfare, food stamps, etc. These are programs that benefit the less affluent peoples of our country so it makes sense that poor people would want to elect Dems.

I doubt your supposition entirely, as a matter of fact my experience indicates that poor whites with little education spout the Repugs talking points more often than any other socio-economic group in the country, people with names like Billy Bob are far more apt to be repugnantcans

You don't have to go to college to know when you've been screwed.
But college seems to blind one to opinions other than those formed in the lab, under proper conditions, with a consortium to back them up. A consortium consisting of other rich, white sons and even some daughters of other legacies.
Its much harder to put one over on the lower classes, they don't have much to lose or much to believe in, and fantasy land isn't in their world.
Education doesn't equate to common sense.

just in case calee is wondering, it is actually conservatives who tend to be the hard sciences... wow... i can't believe she didn't know that. I mean, if a state is red or blue, and it succeeds in a particular field or occupation, it doesn't mean that those people that hold those jobs are liberal or conservative

it really depends... in the cities, they are Democrats...

out of the cities... they are more likely to be Republicans...

and the reason those in the cites are... usually is a racial divide... many feel that the Republican party supports racism in some form or manner...

take the south for example... on average lower levels of education... and lower levels of earnings... yet they are conservative... how do you explain that?

If that's true, which it isn't (go to the deep woods of Mississippi and see who they support), it would be because racist elitist infiltrated and over ran the republican party.
