Ahhh... Black History Month must be around the corner. Here are some heavy hitters: Thurgood Marshall, Martin Luther King, Ralph Abernathy, Stokely Carmichael, James Meredith, Rosa Parks, A. Phillip Randolph. More recently: Condoleezza Rice, Toni Morrison, General Colin Powell. If you want someone a little more obscure, but in my humble opinion a man who has done GREAT things for the arts and for his community, Arthur Mitchell. I've had the pleasure of meeting this wonderful man who doesn't get enough recognition. He not only broke down numerous barriers for blacks in the arts, but he is the classiest man I've ever met (in every single way). My daughter had the honour of studying with him. He's absolutely amazing.

Are you sure you want an answer to this question? If you really do want an answer, here you go...

http://www.pbs.org/wnet/aaworld/
http://www.whitehouse.gov/history/africanamerican/
http://www.nyise.org/blackhistory/
http://afgen.com/history.html
Just to start. and when your eyes are red from reading you'll realize that the contribution to America and American history is replete with countless of famous and infamous African Americans from coast to coast and Sea to shining Sea.
Even then Google "African American hISTORY", and visit thousands of site detailing the History of African Americans - From Slavery to Almost Freedom.
If the list is shorter than 10,000 then the list is way too short. You may find that many things you thought were done first by white man was really African Americans. The McDonald Brother who brought you the Big Mac for instance; Mr Carter wh brought you Peanut butter and much more. If you really want to know, the search only begins here, but where it leads, many fear to travel.
ARE YOU BRAVE ENOUGH?
