It is a apple powerbook G4 1.5GHZ. I just got it back from apple because the screen was loose. They removed the third party ram i had installed, and claimed that if it caused damage from the ram it would not be under warranty. The ram is Add-On Computer. (That is the brand.)

They fixed it but for some reason they removed the ram.

Do you believe that crap they gave you? The screen was loose due to the RAM...

BULLSHIT, just like their PC vs Mac commercials.

No, you shouldn't worry about adding 3rd party RAM to your PB. 1000s of Mac users are doing just that. I'd call Apple and see exactly why they took your RAM. From my understanding RAM is an upgradeable item that wouldn't void your warranty. If you look in your manual, it even shows you how to add or change the RAM.

No, the only thing incompatible RAM will do is cause your computer to either not start or create oddities like certain programs not working that did before.

Mac like all Proprietary computer manufacturers, want you to depend on them for all computer upgrades because that is where they make the bulk of their money.

You could saved yourself alot of time and money just by purchasing a PC, and installing Linux as a second Operating System.

I would worry about it.. Mac is propritary generally.. but if it sez it will work with mac it quite prob will.. I've dealt with mac's and PC's.. Umm i wouldnt own a mac for that very reason (propriatry) or some alledged PC's either... just be careful is all i can say..
