I have a VISA gift card with a few remaining dollars on it. Can anyone give me some suggestions on how to use it? I tried gas stations and convenience stores, but the card gets declined. Or do you think I should just bag the idea?

Buy something, pay the remaining balace in credit and the rest in cash. Usually that works unless there's some fee associated with the use of the card, then you have to figure out the fee and add it to the subtotal of the balance on the card.

*sometimes, leave a penny on the balance, that may get it to go through also.

I get gift cards ALOT.

What I do, is find out the EXACT amount on the card, and next time you go to make any purchase, tell them you want to do a split payment. (You can find out the exact amount by either calling the number on the back of the card, or going to the visa card website)

Say I want "$2.31 on the card and the rest I'll pay in cash."

hope this helps
