The Asian population, simply put, has better dieting and long lives than Americans...and often use natural spices like grade A stevia, and not sugar, to sweeten products.
They like sweet taste, but often try to avoid sugar: diet Coke in Asia (Japan in particular) has been Stevia-based...the trick is to give a cute/communal/natural/healthy image in marketting the drink, then back it up by using organic ingrediants.

Chinese may particularly be adverse to unnatural sugar substitutes like Aspartame and "even" Splenda (Splenda is unnatural chlorine mixed with natural sugar (chlorine is toxic and can't be digested into energy like carbs thus making Splenda a zero calorie product)...so it is not truely a fully natural product)
And, nutritionally, they have a mind to be: chlorine has recently been proven to link to an over 15% increased risk of cancer (and that's just for swimmers, who often don't even drink the chlorine fully).

If you can't use Stevia in Chinese Gatorade products, for production/supplier cost reasons, for example, try at least insisting the Gatorade add protien to their drink to slow down the sugar's metabolic absorbtion rate. This is very similar to how Asian countries use high-protien Soy sauce on their otherwise high-metabolic absorbtion rice to make it healthier to digest.

It has a differnt taste. One that many Asian peoples would not like or be used to. Have you ever tried any drinks from China or Japan? They are REALLY sweet.

Also, the image of Gatorade is really hard and based on competitiveness. Asian cultures are not big on being competitive or winning. They tend to like more peaceful images.
