We regard our country land as "Bharat Mata". However to the best of my knowledge no one has been named as "The Mother of India". Some has named Mother Terresa and Mrs. Indira Gandhi as mother of India but they are not regarded as "the Mother of India" like "the Father of India" Mahatma Gandhi i. e. M. K. Gandhi.

Mother of India means that your own mother. A man should take care, look after and most important to respect her whom gave birth to you. You should treat the land of India as your mother.
Any women born in one country becomes the land of mother, Thai Nadu, Thai means mother and Nadu means country.
Till today we call mother's tongue meaning your native language. In Singapore we call that the Chinese mothers tongue is Mandarin, Hokkien or Teochew, for the Indians is Punjab, Tamil or Hindi and so on.
It is not Mother Theresa, Indira Gandhi or Rai. They are exceptional women in their own field. Respect your mom and your land.
We feel bad when the British invade and took our land and many stood up and fight for their mother land, meaning they are protecting their country.
