Ok, my grandfather just left me $50,000! What should I do with it?

Take 40,000 and put it in an old, established Mutual Fund....
the interest is re-invested and grows amazingly over the
years. You never know when you'll have this kind of gift
again. Protect it. As for the other 10,000 - take a trip
around the world or to places you've always dreamed
of going. You can make it last a long time if you stay in
youth hostels and budget carefully. It can change your
life, give you a knowledgeable over-view of the world,
expose you to cultures and languages that will enhance
your life in ways you cannot imagine. After you return, and
assuming you don't want to live in Tuscany forever, you
might consider using the money for a down payment on
a house....if you can afford the mortgage payments. This
can be a good investment also depending upon where
you live, and if you're planning on re-selling in the future.
