I live in a farm house in the more country part of town. I don't think that I have too many animals because they are all well cared for and see a vet reguarly. I have 4 dogs, 3 cats, and some fish. My mom thinks its too much. My grandma has 9 cats, 3 dogs, 2 goats, and 3 horses, but I don't think she has too many either because they are well cared for and she has 10 acres.

the answer to this question depends on the individual pet owner. Some people can keep numerous pets, either of one species or several, and organise their lives and pets well enough to give enough attention to all. We all know someone who has many pets, all of whom seem to be well-behaved at all times, but it is an eye-opener to be home with these people, and see how much time they actually spend achieving this.
Other people just "love animals", and can't resist any case of a pet that needs a home, fill up their houses with these "rescues", and things are constant chaos in their home, as they have no control over any of their "pets".
So, it is all down to how well your home is set up for the animals you take on, how much time you have to spend with each one, and how good you are at training and socialising them with each other, as well as with humans.
Some people are not ready to take on even one pet, while others can cope very well indeed with many. It all depends on the individual situation.

You can never have too many pets! As long as you can take care of them/hire someone to take care of them, your fine.
10 is not a lot. I would think that person was an animal lover and not just crazy because of the number of pets they have.

When you cannot afford the up keep of them anymore. Then its time to stop collecting. I love lots of pets around me i think a responsible person who really cares about the welfare of an animal would make sure they had a good clean area and were able to afford for there needs and vet bills should they arise.
Also keeping with in the guide lines of your local council on how many animals you are allowed to have (Australia)

i think that the right amount of pets is - an amount where you can give each individual animal the care, time, and love that it needs, and still function as a normal human being. i think that if your pets are taking enough time away from your life, that you can no longer be social, you have too many.

I don't think having a lot of pets make you crazy but I think it depends on where you live and how much land you have determines how many pets you can care for . You can ask you animal control department about how many animals you can have

A person has too many pets the day that they find that they cannot give equal love and care to all of them when they need it/on a regular basis.

You have too many animals if you cannot spend the time to care and love them like you should. 10 might be easy for some, but difficult for others.

There is no such thing as too many pets as long as the owner loves them all and properly takes care of them all. Its not wierd to be an animal lover.

If they are all well cared for and trained properly (ie, not dogs running in a pack without respect for you, or horses who aren't handled and are dangerous for vets, farriers or anyone who goes in with them, etc) there is not technically "too many".
