Even when I try to be cheerful, friendly and socialy adept, the kids at school still don't like me. Why?

It sounds as though you're smarter than them. Most young people don't use the phrase "socially adept." As crossndunk said, your time will come, but it will come when you can finally be with more of your intellectual peers - which probably means that you may have to wait until you get to college to find acceptance. Or have you tried joining the band, debating team, or other extracurricular group where the smart kids tend to congregate?

smoetimes the people who you are trying to do this for are not the people you should be hanging out with. Those that wont acept you for who you are should not be the type of people you hang around with. There are sure to be people who you share teh same interests with.

Also, i have found from experience that people trying to force themselves into a group do not usually sit well with said group.

They are not ready to make friends, you can try to find a best friend and that will be enough, and remember people can not give what they do not have, wich in this case it is friendship. We live unfortunately in a very bad messed up society, Best of luck. you are sweet for trying, keep it up.

Children can be cruel....quit trying so hard. Do things you like..join clubs and after school activities that you like. Here you will make friends that like the same things you do..

Maybe you are trying too hard. Kids can be so mean. Just be yourself. Remember this, you can count true friends on one hand. Do not try to please everyone, because you can't. Be happy finding a few true friends and treasure them.
