Most of the answers within are displaying partisan bias. It is NOT possible to evaluate presidential legacies till some time has passed from the end of the presidency. We can possibly evaluate Ike right now as his presidency at the time seemed to be aloof, but in recent years his legacy has been more accurately evaluated. We can only speculate concerning the current president or presidents of the recent past. If indeed this is the end of the Republic as some say it is I am sure Bush will be the worst but since we do not know any of that yet, we only guess according to our political persuasions.

James Buchanan was probably the worst - who served just before Abraham Lincoln, who is often considered the best.
Both are judged on the same criterion: how they dealt with sectional conflict and the looming Civil War.
Buchanan just let the US drift into the war. Lincoln fought and won, and pointed the nation in an important new direction.
PS I have always enjoyed reading about the presidents, their families, and the times they lived in. Truth is stranger than fiction! A good history of the presidents can be really interesting.

I've answered at least 5 of these same questions just this week. One more time.
Jimmy Carter was the worst, he was voted in as a Joke (Literally)
But Clinton stank pretty bad.

George Bush is probably the worst in my memory, I go back as far as Eisnenhower. He has caused more problems in this country and divided this country more then any other.

Uno, how can you even say Clinton? He enacted many laws that helped the country.
Including getting the National deficit into the green.
