$499 for the 4GB plus a 2 year Cingular contract. Do you think a lot of people will go for it?

they may buy it but that doesn't mean they will like it. A lot of complaints have already been reported on it.
*Apple will control what you can have on your iPhone. There will be no outside applications allowed, at least initially. And while Jobs and company may eventually allow developers to come up with apps for the iPhone, they -- and Cingular -- will have approval over what will make it on-board.
* The iPhone's music-playing functions are crippled by what Apple calls FairPlay, so that if you pay for and download songs from the iTunes store you can only use them on the iPhone and iPod (unless you're willing to make a huge effort to do otherwise). Why anyone would expect this to be different for the iPhone nobody has quite explained

No. It isn't worth it for that amount of money. Also Cingular sucks in Boston, LOTS of dropped calls. Maybe if it gets picked up by Verizon and gets down to $300. I like my Verizon blackberry even though it doesn't play songs.

i wouldnt.. cingular "the new at&t" sucks.. i dont like thier service or coverage.. so.. no.. and it costs way to much.. apple needs to lower the price.. they are making like 40 or more percent profit on it.. i saw it on the news.. or read from newspaper... they should sell it for like 250.. then maybe.. but still cingular dosent have avery good coverage area.. and they drop a lot of calls..
i dont think it will do all that well.. it is touch screen.. and ppl who text will not like it after a week or so

I love that phone..I saw it in a magazine...If i had cingular I would totally get it....But because my work pays for my phone each month I'll keep my treo 700 :o)

No, not yet... it's the first of it's kind...I imagine it ill be too expensive & probably have a few bugs in it... wait a little while..see what users say then make your desicion...since it's so new, usually the second version will be better
