I play college D2 Soccer and at the end of the year my coach gave me points to improve on. one of these points was body language on the feild. I play defense and after a long sprint down the field to beat the opponet to the ball I get really tired so after I clear te ball and get back to midfield i have a bad habit of either grabing at my knees or spandex or putting my hands over my head. I let the opponet know i'm tired. how can i stop this? Is there a trick or do I just have to reconize I'm doing it and stop? where is a good place to put your hands when you are tired but don't want to show it?

I continue to work on my fitness level but is there anything else i can do?

Find another physical motion that you can practice, that can replace these other actions.

For example, when you're feeling tired, try clapping, or stomping your feet. For you, it would be a moment of admitting to yourself that you're winded. For the opponent, it would look as if you can't wait for more.

I say - make a conscious effort to not repeat the body language by drinking more water throughout the day, run more often when not in active play to condition your body. OR
my bf says - walk it off, just walk after the run, this helps to relax the muscles without giving any indication that you're tired.
Both work, we just go about it differently.
We both say, have fun.

It's just concentration and having the mental toughness to exude an aura of complete power and control even though your lungs are on fire and you're about to puke.

Stay upright and stand tall, and try to refrain from pulling any weird "I'm knackered" faces.

Recognize it your self. Also--head up and stand tall, breathe deep through your nose. POSTURE UPGRIGHT. And look your opponents in the eye when you can. Don't blink and stare blankly. It freaks people out like nothing else. Get a friend to videotape you, then work on it, then videotape yourself again. Dunno what to say about your hands, tho.
