Football is the most watched sport in the sports of the country. Football is a very complicated sport. The basic goal is to get the football to the end of the field called the endzone to score a "touchdown" or to have your team's kicker kick the ball into the goal post, giving you points for the "field goal." The Super Bowl is the ultimate stage of football. This year, the SB will feature the Colts vs the Bears. The winner will get a trophy known as the Lombardi Trophy. There is so much more to the game. Here it is, all that I know about the sport. :
Here is some things that can help you during the game.
A sneak is when the quarterback pretends that he is going to thow it to another player, but then he takes the ball and runs himself. If you think that something like this happens during the game, then you'll know it is a sneak.
A blitz is when the quarterback is attacked by players of the opposing team at the beginning of a play.
The main goal is for the quarterback (the player who starts with the ball) to run the ball somehow or throw it to a player and have them run to the "endzone" which is each opposite end of the field. If the ball is thrown to a player in the endzone or someone runs the ball into the endzone, it is considered a "touchdown." When a team gets a touchdown or "TD", they get 6 points added to their score. Right after a team scores a TD, they receive the opportunity to get a PAT (Point After TouchDown.) This means that the kicker of the team has to kick it into the big goal post. If he makes it, the team adds 1 more point, making it 7 points.
Another way to score points is by attempting a Field Goal. (FG) When the kicker attempts a FG to the goal post, from however far they are, and they get it in, the team adds 3 points to their score.
There is a line for every 10-yards on the field. The endzone on each side is basically 0-yards. Then, goes 10, 20, 30, and 40 into the middle of the field from each endzone. In the middle of the field is the 50-yard line.
There are different players on a team. Right now, I will name a few positions. There is the quarterback, which I have already talked about, a running back, which the QB (quarterback) can give the ball to to run it into the endzone, a wide receiver who will run into the endzone and have the QB throw it to him, and a linebacker, who's job is to block the opposing team's players from reaching the QB. The person with the ball has to stop once an opposing player knocks them down.
Another important play is an "interception." An interception is when the QB throws it thinking it will be caught by a tagetted player, but an opposing player catches it. When this happens, the ball is in the opposing team's possession. By the way, an interception's abbreviation is an INT.
After 4 "downs," the ball changes possession of team and the other team starts the ball at the 50-yard line. Also, after a TD, the ball is automatically the other team's and is kicked off by the team that just got the TD to the opposing team.
The game begins by a toss-up. Whoever wins the toss-up can choose to either receive the kickoff or kick off.
There are 4 quarters in the whole game. Each quarter on the clock is 15-minutes. (NOTE: The game is NOT 1 hour long. With all of the stops on the clock, all of the breaks, the half-time show, and timeouts, the whole game reaches approximately 4 hours.
Another important fact you need to know is a "fumble." A fumble is when the QB throws the ball to a teammate, but the teammate touches the ball but the ball falls out of his hands. The ball is anyone's ball and so anyone can retrieve it. Whoever retrieves it, the ball is in their team's possession. Also, if the QB throws the ball to a teammate, but the teammate doesn't catch it and also doesn't even touch the ball, it counts as incomplete and is counted as a down.

Well, I didnt get football when I was younger so I will tell you as much as I know, which is alot.
A first down is when you move the ball 10 yards, you get 4 tries to do this but on 4th down, teams either go for it, which rarely happens, they punt, which is what normally happens out of the 55+ yard range, and finally, they could kick a field goal usually within 55 yards and that's worth 3 points, if they miss, the opposing team gets the ball where they tried the field goal attempt. The goal is to score a touchdown, where the team tries to advance into the endzone. A touch down is worth 6 points, the point after touchdown or PAT attempt is worth one point, and if they try for a conversion it is worth 2 points. Penalties add/take away yards for the team with the ball. A safety is when the offense, the team that has the ball, gets tackled or runs out of bounds in their own endzone, that is worth 2 points and the defense's team who forced the safety get a free kick and they get the ball and their offense is on the field. The goal is too score the most points, obviasouly (how eva u spell that). And an overtime period is when the score is tied, whoever scores first wins in overtime, if no one scores, it ends in a tie except for in the playoffs where they keep going until someone scores and wins. I hope that helped. Peace.

nice "name" but one word you need to know now....PEYTON MANNING....that is all that you need to know...but football is basically where a QuarterBack throws the ball to a WideReciever and the WR catches it and tries to run to the endzone without anyone taking him down or pushing him out of bounds.....but also the defense also tries to "sack" the QB which is where the QB has the ball and is looking for someone to throw the ball to but not one is open and a defender comes up and takes the QB to the ground....
Touchdown is worth 6 pts plus an extra point and a Field Goal is worth 3 pts...blitz is when the defenders all come and try to put pressure on the QB so he can make a bad move and their team will get the ball...and there are 4 tries which is called downs for a team to try and move the ball 10 yds from where they started....and on the 3rd try and you don't move it past that 10 yd. mark then you have to "punt" the ball and give it to the other team....
and if a QB throws an interception to another person on ther other team then that is called a "turnover". also There are running backs that help the QB with the 10 yds to where the QB hands the ball off to them and they try to get it those 10 yds..
and that's about it...for football just watch and see how a game is played...its actually a pretty good game...i LOVE watching it....although i am a chick....oh well.....i wish you good luck and hope you succeed!

Dallas Cowdungs and Green Bay are girly teams. If you like to be a fan then follow the "Monsters of the Midway ' the Chicago Bears who started it all in 1920.They have won 671 , lost 495 and tied 42,the best of any team in football.DA Bears are the best. There defense has dominated football for years, even when the offense has been poor.In the past 20 yrs the Bears have had 23 quarter backs in comparison to Green Bay 4 .And the Bears have still beat them beat them19 and lost 23 in those years.Totally the Bears have beaten the GB 87 ,lost 78 and tied 6 sense 1920.So Green Bay is not the great team that fans think. As for Dallas ,they are a young team in comparison.
GO ! ...DA BEARS..

Football is like Rugby. The team with the ball (the offense) gets 4 downs to go 10 yards. If you don't make it 10 yards the offense will punt the ball away then it's the defense's turn to score. The offense has to go all the way to the endzone. You get 6 points for a touchdown (a touchdown is making it to the endzone). plus you can kick a pat (point after touchdown) or go for 2. There are alot of different teams from the Philadelphia Eagles (my team) to the Arizona Cardinals. I hope I helped.

It is a savage game played by men. Men that drink napalm and piss fire. Men who would rather step on your throaght with their size 20 cleats than let you gain an inch of ground. A game that originates from the distant planet Illcrushurfulkinskullington. Built on blood and pain this game we call football personifies every thing that is great about punching somebody in the face so hard their parents **** on themselves. GET IT!!!

I'd try to convert you to the Raiders, but they have sucked for too long. Other teams with national followings are: Dallas and Green Bay.
