The best way to find a history of your property, is to ask your city records division about the property. They will have the records on the property, in many cases have the original blueprints for the house, the property tax records, and much more.

Visit the Recorder of Deeds office in the county where your property is located. Doing a title search will burn your eyeballs.
The county where I live has a website with info on current owners, but not a history of ownership.

In general, that information is part of the preliminary "title report" from the title insurance company. It's not perfect and probably goes back only 30 years or so. But it's reasonably accurate because the title insurance company will rely on that information to approve the title policy. No, it is not available on the web. The title companies have their own computers and protect that information.

Depending on where you live.

Many counties have their assessor records online, where you can access the property via the address, name or parcel number.

Good luck!
