I'm supposed to do solving linear equations so do i add a+1 or do i add 1+0

a + 1 + 4y = 0
Subtract (a+1) from each side
4y = -(a+1)
Divide both sides by 4
y = -(a+1)/4

if u want to isolate the variables you do

a+1+4y=0
-1 -1
a+4y=-1
/4 /4
a+y=-1/4

im not sure where to go from there but i think the answer to your question is a+1

a+1+4y=0
-1 -1
-----------------
a+4y=-1

linear equation formula ax=by=c
