Doesn't seem that anyone knows whats going on. There is NO federal law allowing abortions. The US Supreme Court however has held that a woman has the right under the Consitution to have an abortion. This rulling struck down a law that said it was illegal to have one, however no law was needed to allow it to happen once the court said it was a right.

Now the court has held that certain restrictions can be placed, ie no 3rd trimester abortions, can require a minor to get a parent's consent (in most cases anyway), etc. However those laws can't prohibit abortion altogether.

Also states/the federal government can prohibit governmental money from being spent to have one, but again can't just outright prohibit it for those not using federal money. ie Mediaid doesn't have to provide abortions, clinics that accept federal money can't provide abortions, etc.

Terminations are legal by federal law, which means in all 50 states. Finding a provider that hasn't been scared away by death threats from Christians is another matter.

Try Planned Parenthood for information on providers.

Abortion is legal in all 50 states. It's a Federal law that supercedes any state laws.

Yes, unfortunately.

I think its very important to maintain autonomy within our union, however...

abortion is just wrong and gross.

We give more dignity to rapists and murderers on death row than that which
is administered to innocent, unborn CHILDREN!!!!
