So basically I have been searching for work since I graduated in May 2006. I search Hotjobs, CareerBuilder, Monster, NYTimes, Entertainment Careers, Craigslist, you name it. I have interviewed with top companies such as The Street and Ascap but have been finding no success finding a job. Are there other resources I should look into? I am a music business major, interned and held an executive board member position at my college radio station but it seems when I apply for positions either I am told I am overqualified or underqualified. It seems no one wants to hire a college grad yet I am constantly asked why i havent been working. I think it's obvious too little jobs too many people and I live in New York where many people from different areas are applying. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks

Hi,
I really have no idea why you cannot find a job.I live in NJ and i tried to look for a job in NY of course i could`t find either.I do not agree with t your statement i am overqualified or underqualified and that`s why i cannot find a job.You accept that for one problem there are only 2 solutions, which is a flaw reasoning.Maybe you have to work over your resume and send cover letters when you apply for job positions. You have to be more persistent and do not give up.Contact your college and ask if there are entry positions or even an internship programs.
Call the hiring managers after the interview and remind them about you.
I dont know maybe you have to be more agressive in searching a job.
By the way, think about why shoud they hire you? What sets you appart from the others?Be confident in yourself and you will have success.
Good luck!

Hi. You might want to think about going to an employment agency. They can try to help you find a job that can get your foot in the door.
