This fact shocked me to my very core. The second highest rate for death in 15-30yr old males is a very shocking statistic, because there are so many possible reasons of death, and these things happen. We studied suicide in PSHE (Personal, Socail, Health Education) so as you can imagine it was a very heavy topic!
What do you think?

I consider myself an ordinary, if not entirely normal, male.
I think about suicide at least a dozen times a day. But it's no big deal because I don't DO it. I think most people prolly do think about it at least daily.

I think men kill themselves because they realize that there are dishonest, sleazing, two-timing, greasy, smooth, lying men out there who not only GET all the women, and HAVE all the women (several at the same time, mind you)....but have honestly fooled all the women into being in LOVE with them. Like saying all those sweet nothings ladies say to a guy who is playing them.

When they realize that women will always go for these men, they consider the options: Either become that kind of man that you despise, or else kill yourself.

I still haven't figured out which one I wanna do yet.

I am in my 50's now but I tried suicide twice-once aged 16 and the other aged 19. I felt no one understood me and I was also very shy. I didn't make friends easily and took to alcohol to cope with these painful feelings I had of inadequacy, emptiness, loneliness etc. I felt different to other kids and I always had a knot of fear in my stomouch from aged 5-my first day at school. It never left me until I tasted alcohol. I became an alcoholic but am 20 years sober now.
So that is my background. There was a saying my mother used. It went ' A problem shared is a problem halved' I never was able to do that as I didn't trust anyone. When I got sober I found people like myself to share my thoughts and innermost secrets with. This saved my life. I finally found somewhere I belong-in Alcoholics anonymous.
So young men take this suicidal decision because they are in intense emotional pain and feel that it cannot be solved. If they could talk to someone trustworthy they would find it a release and a solution to their 'mental problems' I am surprised that drop in centres are not in place for people to come and talk. Something that perhaps Vicars and Priests could encourage because it will save lives.

Umm.. its not a fact, its a statistic (aka lies, lies and damn statistics).
However the trend is apparent to a degree.
We now have a generation brought up on laziness and zero practical skillsets - they cannot for one moment have the ability to think for themselves as all theyve done during the learning years is an education syllabus hell bent on league table results rather than teaching, and the leisure time on a playstation.

Oooh, they meet the real world - where you have to think for yourself and do things constructive - exactly the type of thing that they have spent the first 15 years of there lives NOT learning about.

Maybe girls dont have the same rate because they dont generally spend their learning formative years on a playstation?

Of course, you will also find individuals who wish to commit due to medical conditions and injury - and that should be the statistic for concern.

Y'all don't talk that's why. If you notice women talk to their friends to get things off their chest and to get a perspective on things. Also, men are quite introverted with their emotions so they tend not to discuss them with others.

its sad, hopefully if they are teaching you this at school it will mean that young men will learn where they can go to talk through their problems.

there is nothing new under the sun (from the Bible) so what ever problem a young person is going through they should learn that someone else has gone through it as well and survived/over come it.

Peace Y'all

Because they think Tony Blair is standing down, if he were to continue then it would be the highest reason for suicide.
Realistically there is F all for young males to do, no jobs, too much support for single mums so sngle fathers feel unwanted and too many immigrants taking the jobs young britishg people need.

Mental health issues are greatly misunderstood and sadly go untreated in so many individuals. Perhaps men are less likely to seek help, hence the higher suicide rate.

Depression figures to be a major factor in many suicides and unfortunately many people don't feel they can talk to anyone about it, or get professional help.
