Vitamin C, Ginger Root, Echinaceal; however while vitamins and herbs may work, a better suggestion in my opinion is extracting juice from fresh fruits and vegetables. I've been doing this for three years and I haven't gotten sick with flu or colds.

Get a good juice extractor, not those cheap things that seem to have most of the market share (e.g. Hamilton or Juiceman Jr.)

Good brands of juice extractors are made by Omega (Moline) , Acme, etc. These machines are expensive ($200+), but it's cheaper than being sick. They will also give you healthier skin, teeth, nails, and hair

vitamin C is the best, it will break the back of any cols in less than two days--often within 24 hours if you take it in concentrated form. Oranges and stuff will help but if you want to kill a cold fast then get some stuff called best defense, its got a 1000ng of vitamin c plus lots of zinc for the immune system. It will be the best $10 you ever spend, you can only get it online, i get mine from www.myhealthabcmall.com--go to the cellular protection tab.

I would suggest Vitamin c in crytalized form. 400 grams you take 1/2 teaspoon with 1/2 glass of cold water every 4-6 hours with baking soda 1 teaspoon. My husband and I found this to be the best.

Nothing gets rid of a cold except for time. To shorten the length of a cold - you can try: Vitamin C (lots of it), echincea, garlic and vitamin B. I found that Germ Defense (you can buy at any store) and Cold MD work very well. Of course, lots of fluids, especially Orange Juice, and plenty of rest are important.
